Revolutions. They are everywhere being created by some of the most unlikely characters. Disruptors of the status quo. Creators of positive social change. These are my heroes and a large reason why I wrote, “How to Create a Revolution: A Step-By-Step Guide to History’s Social Influencers.” I wanted to share with everyone the reason why this all began. This book was originally supposed to be focused on the founding fathers and the American Revolution. I do live in Boston, you know. However, the story below is what changed it all. A moment in time spurred a how sequence of events and ignited a fire in my belly. Check it out: Before we begin… In 2010, I was asked to speak at the 140 Character Conference in Detroit. I spent the morning before my speech walking around the city, trying to get to know the people and tap into the energy around me. To be honest, I still wasn’t sure what I wanted to speak on and was in search of some inspiration. What I found would not only be the inspiration to speak that day, anything else. After an hour-long stroll through the barren streets of downtown, I came across [...]

We live in a world of constant change. The events of 2011 have exhibited that all too well. As in life, change comes in cycles: birth, growth, death, and renewal. Understanding these cycles can help us thrive in change, rather than fear it. Though change can be painful, it is a source of creativity, innovation and transformation. While working on my upcoming book, How to Create a Revolution, I created the Revolutionary Change Cycle. Take a Look: During my research for the book, I found a transformation system developed by family therapist, Virginia Satir. Divided into five segments, her system illustrates how the family unit can transform the status quo into something new. While not related, it strengthens the correlation of change behavior amongst all group dynamics. Here’s the deal: Feel free to share. Tweet it, Google +, Facebook it, or post it on your own site. You never know who you’re going to meet on a daily basis or when your life will drastically change in the blink of an eye. As I mentioned on Sunday, I had an amazing time in Detroit while speaking at the 140 Characters Conference. I met so many amazing people during this trip. From Couch surfing Ori Bengal to Ted, one of the homeless guys I spoke to Wednesday morning-this was a very humbling experience. Though I have been on my book tour for the past three weeks, this trip was different. This was the first time I had agreed to share some of my history, my story with the public. Since I have young siblings still back home, I try to keep my past as private as possible. However, a conversation at the 140 conference in Boston, changed all that. A select few convinced me that I had to start to tell my story. You know who you are and thank you. Feel free to watch the video and let me know what you think.
