Whether you are starting a business or are a leader of a successful organization, you will constantly be faced
with obstacles. The question then becomes, “How will you overcome them?” Many times that can easy be accomplished by changing your view or perception of the situation. Which is sometimes harder than it sounds.
Mike is the CEO of a mid size company and has 200 people answering to him, as well as, watching his every move. Though the company is making millions of dollars, morale is extremely low and employees are constantly on the hunt for new jobs.
This situation is not new to Mike. He has seen it evolve over a period of a year and decided to do nothing about it. Finally, when he realized that things were spiraling out of control, he said to his C-Row, “Dammit! We need culture. Someone take care of that, will ya!” Nothing was done.
What Mike failed to realize is that as the leader of this company, people were looking to him to lead the charge. It wasn’t until one day when his daughter asked him to play Follow the Leader that the light bulb went off. It took a kids game, something so innocence to make him realize that he was stuck and needed to change how he viewed the situation and
the role he played in it.
The next day, Mike called a company wide meeting, admitted that he had been blind to his responsibility to set the tone for the company, and asked for input on things that could be easily done to change culture. Six months later, they now have Fun Fridays, a book club, daycare, and the turnover rate has decreased by 40%.
Now it’s YOUR turn! How can you change your perspective on a problem or situation? What questions can you ask to start thinking of some creative solutions to that problem? Who can you ask for help?

I am so happy to have found a blog post where I can add these guys in. They have lived in my car for some time and it is nice to include them.
I am really enjoy reading through your blog (and learning, always a bonus). I did come across a typo, however. You typed innocence when I believe you wanted to use the word innocent in this sentence: It took a kids game, something so innocence to make him realize that he was stuck and needed to change how he viewed the situation and the role he played in it.
By the way, found you through a comment on Christine Perkett’s Facebook page.
