Why I Started Our Revolution

After a ton of planning, volunteers spending countless hours, and a ton of blood, sweat and tears, it begins. Today, is the first day of Our Revolution Road Trip. The number why question I get  is, “Why did you start such a thing?” Here’s a short video with the answer. Revolution! Solutions: Your 5 Minute Spotlight

Revolution! Solutions Contest for March: Your 5 Minute Spotlight: People talk about change. They talk about how restless they are, how conditions are intolerable, how something must be done. They stamp their feet and holler and let anger, resentment, and disillusion fill their heads. The Revolution Roadtrip Call for City Ambassadors

Revolution! Solutions: The Fall of Healthcare

As I mention in my post a few weeks ago, this month launches Revolution!,  an interactive transmedia project that will empower each and every one of us to help facilitate change in some way, no matter how small. Whether its change at home, in your community, globally or just within you- you will have the tools you need to be the change you wish to see in the world. Part of this project is Revolution! Solutions, a 30 day collaborative exchange of ideas around a specific storyline. We are all in this together and the more we brainstorm solutions, the more likely we will be to find solutions that work! So, let the game begin. The camera can be a mental barrier between seeing something and experiencing something. The Revolution! Roadtrip: Who’s Coming?

Last week I announced Revolution! – a transmedia project designed to help empower ordinary people facilitate small or great changes to improve their community or even the world we live in.  Revolution! will kick off in February and gear up for The Revolution Roadtrip on March 4. The Revolution Roadtrip leaves from Boston and stops at various US cities before arriving at Austin for the SXSW conference.  After the conference, we’ll hit other cities on the way back before returning to Boston for our Welcome Home Party.  At every city we stop in, we will work to create content and social good that promotes change and inspires others to take action to step up and realize that they can change their environments for the better. The Revolution: How You can Help!

Life has a funny way of teaching us the lessons we are supposed to learn. As I strolled through the silent snowy streets today, I realized that these lessons I have learned over the passed few months were always there waiting for me. I had to laugh out loud (and then looked around to see if anyone saw this woman walking in the middle of the street laughing to herself), because life is so simple that sometimes we forget. We forget what we are suppose to learn, but also what we’re meant to teach others. So, it’s time. Each of us have the power to change the world. Creative Strategy: Learning the Benefits of Travel and Living Abroad

My surrogate sister, Sara, has been over in China studying and teaching for about a year and a half now. Her experience of acclimating into another culture made me curious to see what creative benefits there are to living aboard. In Psychology Time’s article,”Can living abroad make you more creative,” Art Markman asks just that: The idea here is that when you go to a different culture, there are often subtle differences that you have to learn about. For example, in the US, if you go to someone’s house and they offer you a drink or snack, you respond “Yes” or “No” depending on whether you want a snack. In Russia, though, it is impolite to say “Yes” the first time something is offered, and so you refuse the first request. The host asks again, and after a brief negotiation, you may settle on having a snack. A Russian visiting the US for the first time might refuse the offer of a snack, only to be surprised that she is not asked a second time. Eventually, she must learn that the practices are different.
